The APEX mobile app
APEX ships a phone-first warehouse app: a stripped-down surface built for one hand, a camera, and a dock with bad Wi-Fi. It does four things — Receive, Issue to WO, Cycle count, and Photo — and it does them offline, photos excepted, syncing to your workspace the moment signal returns. It is the same APEX underneath: same sign-in, same workspace, writing to the same inventory records the desktop console reads.
Roles: any workspace member can use it — it signs in with the same email and password as the console. It’s built for the warehouse crew: no dedicated scanner gun, no workstation, no training beyond the four tiles.
What it’s for — and not for
The mobile app is a capture tool. Each screen is one short form: scan a label, key a number or two, submit. There are no lists, lookups, or dashboards on the phone — you review the results on the desktop, in the part’s movement ledger and stock tables.
| Tile | Subtitle on the tile | What it does | What lands in the ledger |
|---|---|---|---|
| Receive | Against a PO | Books new stock into a bin | RECEIPT |
| Issue to WO | Consume a unit | Hands a stock unit to a work order | ISSUE TO WO |
| Cycle count | Adjust on-hand | Corrects a unit’s quantity by a +/- delta | ADJUSTMENT (reason CYCLE_COUNT) |
| Photo | Inspection capture | Attaches an inspection photo to a stock unit | a photo document on the unit |
Despite the tile’s Against a PO subtitle, a mobile receive is a direct receive — it does not tick quantities off a purchase order. Receive PO deliveries from the PO detail screen on the desktop so the order’s received figures stay true. See Receive & issue.
Screen: The mobile home screen, titled Warehouse — “Scan, receive, issue, count, photograph — works offline, syncs on reconnect.” The header shows your workspace name and your operator name, a green ● Online indicator, and a Sync button. Below sit four large tap tiles (Receive · Issue to WO · Cycle count · Photo), and along the bottom a five-tab bar: Home · Receive · Issue · Count · Photo.
Install it on your phone
The app lives at /m on your APEX address — no app store involved.
- On the phone’s browser, open your APEX console and sign in with your usual email and password. If your account belongs to more than one workspace, the app writes to your active workspace — the one shown in the header.
- Navigate to
/m(for examplehttps://your-apex-address/m). The Warehouse home screen with the four tiles appears. - Add it to the home screen: on iPhone, tap Share → Add to Home Screen; on Android, use the browser menu’s Add to Home screen / Install app. It installs as APEX with the APEX icon.
- Long-press the installed icon for shortcuts that jump straight to each operation: Receive, Issue to WO, Cycle count, Photo.
Tapping the installed icon itself opens the console’s start page — on a phone that’s the desktop
view. Use the long-press shortcuts to land directly on a warehouse screen, or keep /m
bookmarked.
Works offline
Receive, issue, and count keep working with no signal: operations queue on the device, a ⇅ badge in the header counts what’s waiting, and everything syncs automatically on reconnect — exactly once, even if the connection drops mid-sync. Photos are the one exception: the image uploads at capture time, so photos need a connection. The full story is in Working offline.
Where to next
- Scanning labels — how the camera scanner reads codes, and the manual fallback.
- Receive & issue — booking stock in, and handing units to work orders.
- Count & photo — cycle counts and inspection photos.
- Working offline — the queue, the badge, and what to do when something won’t sync.
- Warehouse quick start — the crew’s day-one workflow.
Today’s app is camera and barcode only.
